Chadderton, a township in the parish of Oldham cum Prestwich, hundred of Salford, 7 miles N.N.E. from Manchester. Inhabitants 5124. Chadderton Hall, late the seat of Sir Thomas Horton, bart., but now unoccupied, is situated in a park abounding in picturesque scenery. The house is brick, and was modernized and improved by the late Sir Watts Horton. Here was born Dr. Lawrence Chadderton, a devine of the age of the reformation, master of Emanuel College, Cambridge.
