The “Rental” of Thomas West, Lord of Mamcestre, son and heire of Lord la Warre, and Ellinor his consort, made at Mamcestre, May 1, 13 Edward IV., which is in the year 1473. There are some difficulties, however, as to the date, and it is just possible that it may refer to the 23rd year of Edward IV., that is, 1507-8. There appears then to have been about 150 burgages in the town.(7)
